Event Description

New Venue, means new opportunity! This experience is built around training and a Cull Elk Hunt on the Cibolo Creek Ranch in Marfa, TX. The area we hunt offers free range Elk in mountainous terrain which often presents long range shot opportunities. This event includes a one day Hunting Preparation course and a two day one on one guided Bull Elk Cull Hunt. 

The hunting preparation course will include shooting drills that directly apply to the  situations you may encounter on your hunt. You will be shooting at various long range distances to verify your data and build confidence in both, your wind calls and your rifle system.

Located approximately 20 miles south of Marfa, TX, the 30,000 acre Cibolo Creek Ranch is found. This ranch is one of the oldest ranches is Texas, where historical artifacts, art and antiques combine to create a true nineteenth century atmosphere.

Food and Lodging is included with the price of the event.  Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions ahead of time so that we can facilitate meals for you. 

Meat processing is available at Marfa Meats which is located approximately 20 miles from the ranch. You will be responsible for transporting your meat to Marfa Meats and paying for the processing service.

Check-in will be 4:00 PM on the day prior to your first day of class.

We will need the final payment completed 120 days before the event start date to keep the registration valid.

A bull elk cull hunt primarily targets spikes and other unique bulls that are not considered "typical".

No. Please bring adequate note-taking equipment.

We recommend registering for one of our Foundation (L1) and Development (L2) level courses to begin with. This will help you build a perfect foundation for moving on to more advanced courses such as this one.

Yes! Our curriculum is constantly evolving. 

No. Space is limited and designed to accommodate our class size of 6.

Hunt Prep Class and 2 Day Hunt

  • Rifle and 80 rounds of ammunition. (60 for Hunt Prep Class)

  • Laser Rangefinder

  • Binoculars (recommended)

  • Seasonal Appropriate Hunting Clothing

  • Sturdy boots appropriate for rugged rocky conditions.

  • Day pack

  • Appropriate coolers to transport all of your elk meat back home.

  • Texas Non-Resident Special Hunting License (if non resident) valid for the duration of the hunt dates.

El Paso is the closest major airport approximately 200 miles away.


Car Rentals:

Please make car rental plans with your flight arrangements, Gunwerks does not offer transportation to and from the facility for the course.

All event attendees must complete our liability and media waiver.


Students Discounts:

Students are eligible for up to a 10% discount on in stock firearms within 90 days of completing a class. 

Book all levels and save! 10% discount for booking the full Long Range University curriculum.

Booking Requirements:

To secure an event date, a 50% deposit payment is required. Final payment is due 120 days prior to the earliest event date.

Student Cancellation:

If you cancel a hunting event (other than an African hunt) more than one hundred twenty (120) days from the start of the hunt, your deposit can be moved to another class (not refundable). If cancelled less than one hundred twenty (120) days from the start of the hunt, the deposit is forfeited.

Gunwerks reserves the right to change or amend these policies at any time.

Student Rebooking:

If you need to rebook a class MORE than thirty (30) days before your scheduled class date, you may rebook (transfer to another class) without any fee. 

If the rebooking is to a more expensive class, you are responsible for the price difference. If the rebooking is to a less expensive class, you will receive a refund of the price difference.

Gunwerks Class Cancellation:

In rare circumstances, Gunwerks may need to cancel a class. If this occurs, you will be notified as soon as possible and given the option of either a full refund or a move to another course of the same value.

Deposit/Final Payment Schedule

  • A 50% deposit is required for reservation

  • Balance due 120 days prior to a hunt event to maintain your reservation - don't worry, we'll remind you when it's time!
