The Details

The Job

 The CNC Programmer helps develop and improve manufacturing processes and oversees part production in accordance with Gunwerks, LLC standards.


The Person

The CNC Programmer is a team player who is able to give feedback on designs to the Engineering Team and Production Management. You will train new staff on machine operation procedures and work to develop all operators. You design and fabricate fixturing, maintain the tooling database, and troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process. Other responsibilities include analyzing drawings to determine critical features, dimensions, and datums for manufacturing; selecting correct tooling, feeds, and speeds for optimal cutting in various materials; modifying existing programs for various machines; deburring and tumbling products as specified; and performing preventative maintenance on machines and work with machine tool representatives to resolve problems with machines. You will also complete quality control reports on machined parts as well as work in our ERP system to complete manufacturing orders and quality steps.  Flexibility and prioritizing are both important because as well as these duties, you may be assigned others as well at certain times.


Must Have

  • Advanced user of CAD/CAM software
  • Knowledge and skills with measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauging, comparators, and CMMs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • At least ten years related experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
