Thank you for considering our Gunwerks Long Range East Cape Experience in South Africa with John X Safaris. In order to maximize your experience with us we have included some useful information below to help you plan for your trip.

Our 2020 Africa Long Range East Cape Experience will be hosted by our friends and long-time Gunwerks supporter at John X Safaris. Taxidermy services will be provided by Splitting Image Taxidermy.

Gunwerks is taking booking and reservations for 2020. See below for a list of waivers, documentation, and a schedule of fees for the event, or feel free to call us any time to discuss in detail. Between travel, accommodations and trophy fees, you can anticipate spending in the neighborhood of $20K. See the John X Safaris 2020 rate sheet here.

Experience Overview

The guys at John X Safaris run a top quality program with excellent facilities, a great crew, and incredible hunting opportunities and animal quality. Hunt options include 1:1 or 2:1 with or without observer/s. Their professional hunters are familiar and well-trained with the Gunwerks shooting system affording you numerous real-time opportunities on a number of hunting scenarios.. 

This 8-day East Cape Experience will provide anyone from the long range novice to the seasoned expert with excellent hunting and a one-of-a-kind long range hunting experience. Hunting here in South Africa's East Cape is fast and eventful with more variety of game animals than almost anywhere on the planet. You'll get 8 years worth of long range hunting experience packed into 8 incredible days.

 
 

With over forty different species available to hunters, from the tiniest Blue Duiker to the largest antelope in Africa, the Cape Eland, all occurring in a variety of habitats, John X Safaris have found the need to establish camps within the moister southern and drier northern regions of the East Cape. This allows hunters to enjoy the variety of a single/multi-area hunt on the same safari, while ensuring the very best in trophy quality.

Waivers
Please see our required waiver here. A signed waiver is required before joining us on this experience.

Cancellation Policy
In the event of a client canceling a safari less than 6 months prior to the commencement date of the safari, the deposit will be forfeited if the dates cannot be rescheduled to alternate dates within the same season or the following season.

What to bring? Your favorite Gunwerks Rifle! Also check out John X Safaris' Comprehensive Packing List that ensures you pack the right gear to cover all the bases from equipment to clothing.

You'll need to book your flights into and out of Port Elizabeth International Airport (PLZ). If you have any questions on specific arrival times, what to bring, etc. feel free to contact Gunwerks or John X Safaris any time.

Gunwerks can also help with the logistics of traveling with your firearm. PLEASE NOTE: ONLY South African Airways (SAA) / South African Express (SA Express) carry firearms domestically in South Africa. Double check when booking with either of these airlines that you are on a listed SAA / SA Express flight AND NOT a shared carrier flight. Most international flights will have layovers in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Woodland Safari Estate is the home of John X Safaris and the operational base for this experience. Lodging and meals are included in the daily rate.

General Policies

  • All applicants for our training courses must be US citizens not legally barred from possessing firearms. For non-US citizens interested in a training course, please call us directly (307) 296-7300

  • All event attendees must complete our liability and media waiver

Student Cancellation

Hunt:
If you cancel a hunting event (other than an African hunt) more than one hundred twenty (120) days from the start of the hunt, your deposit can be moved to another class (not refundable). If canceled less than one hundred twenty (120) days from the start of the hunt, all payments toward the class are forfeited and non-refundable.

Gunwerks Class Cancellation:
In rare circumstances, Gunwerks may need to cancel a class. If this occurs, you will be notified as soon as possible and given the option of either a full refund or a move to another course of the same value. Gunwerks reserves the right to change or amend these policies at any time.

Deposit/Final Payment Schedule

  • A 50% deposit is required for reservation

  • Balance due 120 days prior to a hunt event to maintain your reservation - don't worry, we'll remind you when it's time!
