The Gunwerks Shooting System has created a new definition of performance for custom rifle builders.  The LR-1000 model has become the pattern for all long range hunting systems.  We have designed and configured the LR-1000 to be the most shootable long range hunting rifle made, and with our unique indestructible finish and components it is also the most rugged.

For 2011, the G7 5.5-22X50 riflescope (built by Nightforce Optics) comes standard.  This ushers in an era of First Shot Perfection.  The G7 scope is designed, manufactured and tested to maintain point of impact under all conditions—even side impacts!

The rifle lives up to the same quality of manufacturing.  Many companies try to cut corners by investment casting their actions and components, the LR action series is precisely machined on CNC equipment from heat treated, ordinance grade barrel steel.  The bolt raceways and bore are wire EDM’ed to be perfectly straight.  For 2011, bolts are also machined from a single billet of stainless steel, then coated with an extremely hard, high performance coating called Armaloy to prevent galling.  Even the scope rings are now pinned to eliminate any possibility of point of impact shift.

Barrels are heat stress relieved three times in the manufacturing process.  They feature a 5C or canted land configuration.  The stainless steel is hand lapped to a bore variation tolerance of 0.0001 of an inch.  Chamber work and barrel threading is completed on a very expensive, very precise Haas TL2 CNC lathe.  Fit and finish is unmatched by “gunsmith” workbench lathes. 

The Gunwerks LR stock has molded color and texture built into the stock—it cannot wear off!  A painted stock will look wore out after your first outing, the Gunwerks stock will look as-new after a lifetime of service.  The NIC Industries, Cerakote finish is the industry standard for durability and good looks.  All metal parts use this coating to prevent corrosion, simplify cleaning, and minimize lubrication requirements.

We completely set up your system by breaking in the barrel, accuracy testing, scope mounting, ballistic profiling using our state of the art long range shooting facility, and calibrating a custom ballistic turret.  We call this our “1000 yards, out of the box” treatment.
